Increased Staffing and Cleaning Needs during the COVID-19 Pandemic:

Kaiser Permanente’s medical facilities experienced unprecedented demand as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. An urgent need for specialized cleaning and additional staffing arose, prompting Kaiser Permanente to seek assistance from HPA Groups. HPA navigated the difficulty of recruiting personnel amid concerns about working in healthcare environments during the pandemic. 

Over the course of two years, HPA added 175 employees and 8 supervisors to support Kaiser’s needs. Each staff member underwent rigorous training, encompassing both classroom education and hands-on experience in the specific departments in which they would be working.

During this time, HPA provided several essential services to Kaiser Permanente, including:

♦ Additional trained staff to increase cleaning levels in critical areas, including the ASC, Lab, Pharmacies, Radiology, Oncology, CDU, and Internal Medicine department.

♦ Provided cleaning services in tents erected for Covid. 

♦ Sourced and supplied personal protective equipment (PPE) from multiple channels to support Kaiser Permanente’s needs during a time of scarcity.

♦ Distributed crucial supplies throughout Kaiser Permanente’s medical centers

♦  Supported Kaiser Permanente’s testing and vaccine initiatives by providing services at specially designated locations. 

By rapidly expanding its workforce and prioritizing staff and patient safety, HPA supported Kaiser Permanente’s efforts to respond to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
